Marc-André Fleury’s illustrious career has come to an end after 13 seasons and three Stanley Cups, won in the years 2009, 2016 and 2017. He played with the Minnesota Wild before announcing his retirement this season. His retirement has brought about an emotional reaction from fellow teammates who have idolised him for his contributions to the NHL. Marc-André Fleury’s legacy, Kirill Kaprizov, his teammate, shared, “It was nice to play with him… a couple of seasons together. You can learn so much stuff from him. I don’t know what to say, unbelievable career… one of the best goalies in the world, all-time.”
Fleury spent the majority of his career with the
Pittsburgh Penguins, which garnered a reaction from the team as well. The official handle of the Penguins shared, “Congratulations to Marc-Andre Fleury on a phenomenal NHL career. We've been privileged to be a part of it.” Similarly, his Penguins teammate, Jack Eichel, shared, "Fleury's been doing it for so long. The model of consistency, and I don't think I've ever spoken to a player or staff member, really anybody who's had a bad thing to say about the guy."
Sidney Crosby shared, "I think with Flower, just his ability to compete at the level that he's competing at, at his age, after doing it for so long. He's somebody that I spent a lot of time with over the years, you know, being his teammate, and definitely appreciate all those great memories that we've had together."
