Malayalam cinema is witnessing a golden phase, and Mohanlal’s latest film Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, has just added another remarkable chapter to its history. The film has officially crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark at the box office, becoming only the third Malayalam film to achieve this feat after L2: Empuraan and Manjummel Boys.As per the latest box office numbers, Thudarum has raked in Rs 101.65 crore in just 18 days, with Rs 98.95 crore coming from the Malayalam version alone while Rs 1.85 crore from its Telugu dubbed version, and Rs 85 lakh from the Tamil version. The film, which opened to a strong Rs 5.25 crore on its first day, showed impressive growth over its opening weekend and maintained a steady hold through the following weeks, where the film in its first week earned Rs 51.4 crore and in the second week it added another Rs 35.35 crore as per Sacnilk. Its consistent run, especially during weekends, played a crucial role in pushing it past the century mark.This also marks Mohanlal’s second consecutive Rs 100 crore grosser after L2: Empuraan, reaffirming his unparalleled box office dominance in Malayalam cinema. It’s a significant milestone not just for the superstar, but also for director Tharun Moorthy, whose collaboration with Mohanlal has evidently struck gold with audiences.
