Devlina Kumar shared a heartfelt message on Mother’s Day, reflecting on her relationship with her mother and the emotional nuances many daughters in Bengali households experience.
“There’s been a talk on whether one day is enough for mothers, which is Mother’s Day. But no, it’s for 365 days,” Devlina said, adding that the bond between a mother and daughter is complex yet unbreakable.
“For those of us raised in Bengali households, we don’t have the habit of saying ‘I love you’ to our mothers or hugging them tightly — at least I don’t. But this is that one day when we can show a little extra love,” she shared.
Opening up about her personal experience, she added, “From the outside, the mother-daughter relationship may seem like a state of conflict, but inside, it’s all love. My mother has taught me how to be a good human, how to behave in society. She has scolded me when I’ve made mistakes. But even now, no matter what, it’s our mothers we can’t live without.”
