‘A money-hungry squirrel’: Jake Paul fires shots at Canelo Alvarez - Watch

NEW DELHI: A YouTube star turned professional boxer, Jake Paul has been engaged in a verbal exchange with Canelo Alvarez, one of the most prominent figures in the boxing world. Paul accused Alvarez of being "money-hungry" and prioritising financial gain over a potential high-profile bout between the two.
Alvarez recently agreed to a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, a Saudi Arabian entertainment organisation, which Paul believes was a strategic move to avoid facing him in the ring. P
Paul claimed that the "sports-washing, shady characters" behind Riyadh Season are paying Alvarez substantial sums to prevent their fight from happening, as they fear the potential magnitude of such an event.
“The truth is, you could be bought,” Paul said to Alvarez on social media. “You’re a money-hungry squirrel chasing your next nut. The truth is, these sports-washing, shady characters are paying you hundreds of millions of dollars to stop our fight from happening because they couldn’t fathom the fact that they can’t create a bigger fight than me and you.”

The deal with Riyadh Season includes Alvarez's first fight scheduled for May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the possibility of facing Terence Crawford, the long-reigning welterweight champion, in Las Vegas for his second bout.
Despite being a relative newcomer to the sport, Paul has managed to establish himself as a significant draw in combat sports, having fought against mixed martial artists and even the legendary Mike Tyson.
He boasted that his fights have garnered more attention than any of Alvarez's recent bouts, challenging the Mexican boxer's claim of being the biggest moneymaker in the sport.
While Alvarez would have been an overwhelming favourite against Paul, the YouTube star remains confident in his ability to generate more buzz and interest than any of Alvarez's fights scheduled for the year.
