He is looking forward to it. He opted to sign with the Mets for $765 million rather than remain with the Yankees, and now he's prepared for anything the crowd has in store for him boos, chants, or worse. Juan Soto smiles through pressure and knows what to expect
Juan Soto assisted the Yankees in reaching the World Series last year. He had 41 home runs and was one of their top players. However, when the time came to decide, he signed with the Mets instead. That move infuriated many Yankees fans. They're supposed to express their rage loudly when he comes back.
On his return to Yankee Stadium, Juan Soto said, It’s going to be 50,000 against one. They’re going to try to get to me, it’s part of it. Whatever they will do, they have the right to do it.
Nevertheless, Juan Soto does not appear to care. When queried regarding the boos, he replied,
"I don't mind." He has been claiming all season that Yankees fans are capable of "surprise you with anything." But he smiled while he said it. Soto has always possessed a cool demeanor in high-pressure situations.
David Stearns, president of baseball operations for the Mets, said Soto remains the same regardless. He said Soto doesn't let things get too big-headed in his head and can keep his focus.
Even Mets pitcher Clay Holmes, a former Yankee, said Soto would be all right.
"He's always able to lock it in in those big moments," Holmes said.
Yankees know Juan Soto will hear Boos and it's part of game
Everyone on the Yankees' side is aware that the fans are going to make sure they know it personally. According to Pitcher Clarke Schmidt,
"and choose the other one. The fans are going to take something personal to that, but that’s part of it."Juan Soto is also receiving a break before the big game. He didn't play Wednesday to rest up. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza stated that it is a good time to give Soto two days of rest before the grueling series. Mendoza also recognizes how crucial Soto was to the Yankees last season and stated that the return to the Bronx would be thrilling.
Juan Soto has homered eight times this season and has been among the Mets' best players. Now he's primed for one of the largest and most boisterous moments of the year.
