NBA Offseason Rumors: Golden State Warriors might sign Los Angeles Lakers center to bolster front-court with Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler

The Golden State Warriors are eyeing former Lakers center Thomas Bryant to strengthen their frontcourt. Bryant, a potential unrestricted free agent, is seen as a valuable addition for his size, energy, and rim protection. Despite a turbulent career, the Warriors believe he could be a good fit for their team alongside Jimmy Butler.

The Golden State Warriors are reportedly considering a move for former Los Angeles Lakers center Thomas Bryant this summer to bolster their frontcourt and support star forward Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry. Bryant, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after completing his $2.8 million contract this season, could bring much-needed size, energy, and rim protection to the Warriors’ roster.
“The Golden State Warriors could give Thomas Bryant the fair shake he deserves in the NBA,” wrote Matthew Legros of Empire Sports Media. “Bryant is a gargantuan center who could add size, floor-spacing, high energy, and athleticism to the Warriors’ frontcourt.”
Thomas Bryant, an eight-year NBA veteran, has struggled to secure a consistent role since entering the league in 2017. After a promising rookie season with the Lakers, he joined the Washington Wizards in 2018, where he enjoyed his most productive years. During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, Bryant averaged over 21 minutes per game, showcasing his potential as a reliable big man. However, his career has been marked by instability, with stints in Los Angeles, Denver, and most recently, Indiana.

Despite limited playing time with the Pacers this season, Bryant’s skill set remains intriguing. Known for his explosive leaping ability, pick-and-roll efficiency, and transition play, the 27-year-old could address the Golden State Warriors’ need for frontcourt depth. Golden State passed on several trade opportunities for big men during the season, making Bryant a viable target in free agency.
“Golden State needs a big man who can bring those qualities, plus rim protection to the floor for them,” Legros added. “Bryant has not been able to enjoy a featured role for long, which he may deserve.”
Thomas Bryant’s reunion with the Lakers in 2022 saw him average 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds in 41 games before being traded to the Nuggets. While his stats have dipped this season, his high-energy playstyle and experience make him a potential fit for the Golden State Warriors’ system.

As the Golden State Warriors look to build around Jimmy Butler and remain competitive, pursuing Bryant could be a low-risk, high-reward move. With free agency approaching, Golden State may finally give Bryant the opportunity to shine in a more prominent role.
