Everything you need to know about Cadillac F1, the 11th team to compete in Formula 1 2026 season

In the lead-up to the new Formula 1 season, a new team named Cadillac F1 has been announced as the 11th team to compete in the upcoming season. The American team has revealed key personnel and some details about its car, although the names of the two drivers who will represent the team are still yet to be disclosed.

Who Are the People at Cadillac F1

Cadillac F1 is owned by TWG Motorsports. It is the racing arm of TWG Global, which has also invested in several other sports teams, such as Andretti Global’s IndyCar and Formula E ventures, NASCAR’s Spire Motorsports team, IMSA’s Wayne Taylor Racing, and the Walkinshaw Andretti United Supercars team.
Dan Towriss serves as the CEO of TWG Motorsports. Russ O’Blenes, who has experience working on various racing projects and Cadillac’s hybrid hypercar program in endurance racing, will lead the GM PPU program. Graeme Lowdon, who previously helped Richard Branson in setting up Virgin Racing, will be the Cadillac F1 team principal.

Nick Chester is the technical director and has worked with Mercedes-Benz and McLaren in his career. Rob White has been appointed as the Chief Operations Officer, while John McQuilliam, the Chief Designer, joined Cadillac after working for Williams and Andretti (as its Chief Designer in 2024). Jon Tomlinson, with extensive experience in designing race-winning Indy cars, will head the aerodynamics department. Mario Andretti will act as an advisor and director for the team.

Cadillac to Use Ferrari Power Units

According to PlanetF1, Cadillac will enter Formula 1 in 2026 with Ferrari power units. However, the team has plans to develop its own power units in the future. It has already been announced that GM Performance Power Units LLC will provide Cadillac with its company-built power units when the time comes.

Who Could be the Drivers for Cadillac l?

Cadillac is yet to finalize its driver lineup. However, it has been revealed that the two drivers should either be American or have already proven themselves in Formula 1. Andretti Global driver Colton Herta is among the potential candidates for a seat at Cadillac.
